A DEDICATION TO FRIENDS

In preparation for another crazy weekend with my gal pals I thought I’d display some photos of our finer* moments;

I know it’s totally cliché but I really couldn’t live without my mates. They are so supportive, caring, crazy and fun and basically everything you could want in a friend.

However…I am in the search of some new friends! No I’m not replacing mine… I’m looking for friends who want to travel!!! My girlfriend’s are all a bit more sensible and stable than I am therefore the idea of randomly packing up and going on a ‘holiday’ isn’t really their thing!!

So I want suggestions as to how I go about finding some new pals with a particular interest in traveling. Do I join a website for travel buddies (if a website of that kind exists)? Do I go stay in a backpacker’s hostel in Sydney for a few nights and try and meet some people? Do I place an advert in the classifieds hoping to find a sane and non perverted travel companion?

* - I am totally kidding about these being a finer moments! I just don't really have any sober photos of us all - because we are rarely sober (joking!)

NOTE: Sorry about the dodgy quality of some of the pics.

DISCLAIMER: Any of the gals who might read this blog - sorry for posting trashy photos of you on the internet - I always told you I'd do it tho =)

I'm looking for buds to go to Europe with in May/June! Also, I use the site Tripup.com because it's full of young, relatively good-looking people from all over the world! I have boys to meet for drinks in every city I go to!

Well, there is always me! You know I am up for anything and I've got connections all over Northern Europe, Canada and NZ.

Wisco is right about Tripup and I've also heard good things about travelchums.com and of course, travel blogs and message boards.

But hey, why not travel by yourself?? That's the only way I travel and I GUARANTEE that by staying in hostels you will meet THE BEST people to travel with. Honestly, you go with solo travel in mind, but if you want it, you can always find someone cool to change plans for. I was never without company when I traveled. Sometimes I wanted to be by myself but other times...sure, I'll stay a few more days in Venice and hang out with you...sure, I'll stay at your hostel in Paris...I only met you the other day but why not meet up in Alice Springs? And so on....

Ummmm...

I totally look like one of your drunk friends.

Or is it that drunk women all look the same?

Great pics! Nothing better than great friends. I do however know what your saying about buddies. This year I decided to be a better friend ie up the outings with some people, i have wonderful people in my life that i only see 6 times a year. not acceptable. I'm working on it. There's been a couple of instances where i've scrolled down my phone book and not seen a name i wanted to call on. That means its time to expand the social circle.

I wouldnt mind a travel buddy, but i know how fickle and pedantic i am, the task will be easier said than done. Peru is next on my travel plans, thankfully i have a friend going to Chile around the same time i want to go and i have friends in Mexico and Uruguay :-)

Don't worry, I am know by some of my friends as just the biggest drinker in all the land and nothing else.

Unfortunately the job and the fact that almost every photo of me has some kind of beer in it has done nothing but grow that reputation. That and constant phone calls about alcohol while we are out...

Great pictures and seems like you have some good buddies. I have met women from all over the world and you know what, there is some thing about Aussie chicks. They are just really good fun and usually pretty genuine and nice people.

Those are some truly superb photos lol. As for meeting new travel mates, I think the best way of doing that is.. well.. travelling! Try doing some tours, you always meet some like minded people there (granted that you're up for some fun!)

Well, if you're traveling to New York City I'd be happy to show you around!

Steph: You must have a fun group of mates too. lol

Wiscoblonde: Thanks for the info...the idea of young cute boys to meet up with sounds good =)

Simon: Me, Jealous? Pft - not much!!!

Wanderlusting: Somehow I think we'd have a pretty damn awesome time travelling together!!! I am starting to get more and more used to the idea of travelling alone too.

Eileen: I think all drunk chicks look the same after a certain number of drinks lol

Natalie: I totally know what you mean... sometimes you need different groups of friends who are interested in different things!! Peru and Chile sounds awesome!!!

Stormin Mormon: Haha - sounds like a typical night out with my and my mates!

Graffiti: Of course Aussie chicks are the most fun and laid back =)

Kass: Its so true - I think its just a bit daunting to take the first step on your own!

Todd: I'll hold you to that as NYC is definately on my list of places to see in the next year or two
