I can't say that I will ever learn French. I think that I would just invade from the East first, and convert the locals. (Probably easier than learning the language.)
I got by in France without speaking very much French. Hit Ireland instead. No language problems and very friendly people.

- good idea to learn French. The French treat you a lot better if you make the effort and then they end up speaking English with you. Frustrating if you are trying to practice (such as I was when I was there) but good if your French really really sucks.
Simon- AWWWW thanks for thinking of lil ol' me! I would love to get away - might be going to teach English in Italy in August for 10 days but we'll see.
